When you have children of your own you start the realize just how difficult it is the not only raise them properly but to try and instill good habits. Not just eating and avoiding bad diet habits but for everything else that the World throws at young people today.

FIRST ATTEMPT

This was my first try at the concept the end result was not what I imagined but something way better, thanks to my daughter who turned her back on the piece of brocolli and I think made the picture.

Eat your greens!

CONCEPT

We seem to have become more and more detached from the food chain, from the farmers field to the dinner table. Producers of food seem to have polluted the food production chain to such a degree that there is no connection to what is walking around a field and what ends up in the food we buy and eat.

I'm not eating that, it's disgusting

So as a photographer who shoots a lot of stock imagery, news items that are trending are a good source of ideas. I figured this was another niche to shoot some stock for, especially in the wake of the recent food scandals. Scandals that have revealed that the cheap burgers contain almost everything else but beef! With the horse meat being a popular “filler” for disreputable producers of cheap food.
So my poor kids were cajoled/persuaded/bribed to try and create a set of stock shots I could sell online. Burgers were bought, ketchup squeezed, cheese melted and a photo shoot created. I liked the end result. My actors didn’t need much directing in terms of what to do, the burgers we had made were deliberately bad and even my son, who eats everything refused to eat the “product”! They must have been bad

Why should I eat that, it's disgusting!
