I had seen these retro style urinals on previous visit to Roskilde, and of course I didn’t have a camera with me, my iPhone just couldn’t do it justice. So this location went into the memory banks for a location to re-visit. Luckily it wasn’t one of those locations that is going to go away…..or one of those once in a lifetime miraculous “God’s Light” moments that you hate as a photographer when the light shines in the most amazing way on the most perfect place and you have committed the cardinal sin, by calling yourself a professional photographer, of not carrying a camera with you at all times. At least now you can now carry a camerphone I suppose and boy they getting better and better.
As I came out of the toilet I had an unusually wide smile on my face, not my usual look when coming out of a gent’s public toilet. I had to explain to my wife the reason for my good mood, she hasn’t seen the interiors of many gent’s toilets but she would have to wait for the reshoot to see it properly
So I returned on my next visit to Roskilde and it was one of those moments as a photographer when you try and time taking your picture when it’s quiet but my plan came unstuck when queue formed outside waiting to use the urinals whilst I took my picture, a few swear words were uttered but quickly pacified.
I really like it, in fact I would like to go back with a Father Christmas outfit and a rotund model, that would be fun.
The usual Nikon D800 and Nikkor 16-35 F4.
Thanks for looking.
